THE RE:SEATED STORY

RESEATED_WEB-6079.jpg

Re:seated was born from a love of vintage and retro furniture combined with a passion for the craft of upholstery.

Jess Suckling has been sourcing and restoring furniture from the 1950s-70s since 2012, trawling flea markets across Europe to find mid century treasures in need of a new lease of life. Following a short course to reupholster one of her favourite pieces she was inspired to study for a qualification with the Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers, and narrow her furniture focus to chairs.

After 4 years of training Jess completed the third and final stage of her diploma at the British School of Upholstered Furniture in Nettlebed in the summer of 2019, gaining a distinction.

Re:seated is the next chapter in Jess’ upholstery journey, giving her the chance to connect with like-minded chair lovers keen to invest in old rather than new. Chairs are stripped back to their frame before rebuilding from scratch, ensuring all new fillings and fabrics meet modern regulations.

In addition to sourcing and fully reupholstering chairs before finding them a new home, Jess also works on commissioned pieces.
